Sugar House sits on 2100 South. We sit on 4500 South. On Salt Lake's grid that's 24 blocks, about four road miles, and 700 East covers nearly all of them in a straight line through Millcreek. Eight to twelve minutes when traffic is ordinary. Before you leave the Sugar House strip, call (385) 480-0270; a same-day appointment gets held and a room gets readied for your arrival.
For anyone without insurance, the emergency exam together with one X-ray is $99.
The $99 emergency exam fee is for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.
Same-day appointments · $99 exam + X-ray · Phones answered 24/7 · In network with four major plans
How far is our office from Sugar House?
About four miles. Our address is 622 E 4500 South Ste 103, Salt Lake City, UT 84107, on the south side of 4500 South between State Street and 700 East, in the Murray area of the valley. From Sugar House Park or the Whole Foods and Trader Joe's on 2100 South, you're on 700 East within a few blocks, and 700 East runs south without a bend until it reaches us.

From the east side of the neighborhood, around 1300 East, Westminster University and Highland High School, the drive runs toward the twelve-minute end. Cut over to 700 East on 2100 South.
Same-day emergency dental care for Sugar House patients
A same-day appointment starts with a phone call during office hours: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or Thursday morning, when the office runs 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The front desk holds a slot that day. Walk-ins aren't accepted; phoning is what reserves the room and the dentist.
Once the office is closed, the same number goes to a live answering service, which records your details and holds the next office day's first opening. The same-day dentist page covers how that works on a Thursday afternoon or a Sunday night.
At the appointment, expect an exam, an X-ray and a plain-language rundown from our dentists of the problem and the choices. Treatment that can happen that day usually does.
What to do about a weekend or evening toothache in Sugar House
Our office is closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the last chairside hour ends at 5:00 PM Monday through Wednesday and at noon on Thursday. The phone is answered 24/7. Call when the pain starts, whatever the hour. A live person notes your details and sets aside the first opening, meaning Monday at 8:00 AM if the weekend has already started.
Three things mean the hospital, not us: swelling on the move toward your eye or your neck, breathing or swallowing that's turning difficult, and bleeding that pressure won't stop. Two hospital emergency rooms are near our office. St. Mark's Hospital on 1200 East near 3900 South is on the east side between Sugar House and us; Intermountain Medical Center is on State Street at 5300 South. Utah emergency rooms handle spreading infection, facial injuries and uncontrolled bleeding; a tooth that needs pulling or a root canal still has to come to a dentist.
What an emergency dental visit costs for Sugar House patients
Paying on your own means $99 for the exam and X-ray, full stop. Treatment is a separate, written price that our dentists hand you before anything starts.
The cost and insurance page names the four major dental plans we're in network with. If yours is among them, we send the exam and X-ray charges to the plan. If it isn't, you're probably out of network; we submit the claim for you anyway. Cash, credit cards and CareCredit financing all work for treatment, and credit union financing is there for larger treatments. Ask when you call about splitting a larger bill into payments; in some cases we can.

Emergency dental services for Sugar House families
All of these are treated in our 4500 South office. A tooth that wakes you at night gets toothache relief that begins with finding the cause. Draining and treating a dental abscess before it has a chance to spread happens here too. When a tooth can still be saved, an emergency root canal saves it; when it can't, an emergency tooth extraction takes it out the same day. Slip at the Fairmont Aquatic Center and the broken or chipped tooth is rebuilt with bonding, a filling or a crown. A knocked-out tooth needs to stay moist and reach us fast, and a lost filling or crown needs the tooth under it protected until you arrive.
Sugar House shares our service area page with seven other neighborhoods. Millcreek and South Salt Lake, your neighbors to the south and west, have pages too.
Frequently asked questions
Does calling from Sugar House get me a same-day visit?
Yes, if the office is open when you call: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Thursday until noon. Dial (385) 480-0270 and the front desk sets a time aside. Walk-ins aren't accepted, so make the call before you head down 700 East.
Is 700 East or I-15 faster from Sugar House?
700 East is the direct route, about four miles with no freeway merging. I-80 to I-15 south to the 4500 South exit is the alternative when 700 East is slow. Either way, figure eight to twelve minutes, and phone before you leave so the room is ready.
My filling fell out Thursday evening in Sugar House. What are my options?
Call us. The office closed at noon Thursday, but a live person answers, writes down your details and reserves Monday's 8:00 AM opening. Keep the tooth clean, avoid chewing on it, and see the lost filling or crown page for ways to cover the spot until then.
