State Street runs right through South Salt Lake and keeps going until it reaches us. Our office is a block east of State Street on 4500 South, about three miles south of City Hall and the Central Pointe TRAX station, which works out to six to ten minutes on a normal day. Dial (385) 480-0270 while you're still at home. That call puts a same-day appointment on the books and a dentist in the room when you arrive.
For anyone paying without insurance, the emergency exam and the X-ray to go with it are $99.
The $99 emergency exam fee is for patients paying without insurance. It covers a limited, problem-focused emergency exam and the X-ray needed to diagnose the tooth. Treatment is priced separately and quoted to you in writing before any work starts.
Same-day appointments · $99 exam + X-ray · Phones answered 24/7 · In network with four major plans
How far is our office from South Salt Lake?
About three road miles. We're at 622 E 4500 South Ste 103, Salt Lake City, UT 84107, which puts us on the south side of 4500 South, between State Street and 700 East, in the Murray area. From the 2100 South end of town, near the WinCo and the South Salt Lake Community Center, you're driving 24 blocks of State Street and then one block east. From Granite Park Junior High or Fitts Park, at the southern edge of 84115, the trip is shorter still.

A winter inversion morning on State Street can push the drive toward the ten-minute end.
Same-day emergency dental care for South Salt Lake patients
Same-day emergency appointments are held during office hours: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, plus Thursday mornings from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. You call, the front desk asks a few questions, and a time that day is yours. We don't accept walk-ins. That call sets aside a room and a dentist.
Calls outside those hours go to a live answering service. Your name, your number and what's wrong get written down, and the first opening on the next office day is held for you. The same-day dentist page spells out what that means on a Thursday afternoon or a Sunday night.
Once you're here: exam, X-ray, a plain explanation from our dentists, and a written price before treatment.
What to do about a weekend or evening toothache in South Salt Lake
Our chairs are empty Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They're also empty after 5:00 PM Monday through Wednesday and after noon on Thursday. The phone is answered 24/7, and the person who picks it up after hours works for a live answering service; they'll log your details and hold the first opening for you. After a weekend, that's Monday morning at 8:00.
Some things can't wait that long. A swelling that's heading for the eye or the throat, breathing or swallowing that's getting difficult, or bleeding that pressure can't stop: go to a hospital emergency room. For South Salt Lake, Intermountain Medical Center on State Street at 5300 South is the closer one; it's farther south on State Street, past 4500 South. Spreading infection, facial injuries and uncontrolled bleeding are what Utah emergency rooms treat; teeth don't get pulled there and root canals don't happen there. The tooth comes to us afterward.
What an emergency dental visit costs for South Salt Lake patients
Without a plan, $99 is the whole charge for the exam and the X-ray. Any treatment gets quoted separately and in writing before it starts.
Four major dental plans count us as in network; the cost and insurance page lists them by name. With one of those four, the plan receives the bill for your exam and X-ray. Any other plan is likely out of network, and we file the claim for you all the same. For the treatment itself we take cash, credit cards, CareCredit financing and credit union financing for larger treatments. Some larger bills can be split into payments; ask when you call.

Emergency dental services for South Salt Lake families
All of this happens in our 4500 South office. Toothache relief is built on an X-ray and a cause, not a guess. A dental abscess that has puffed up your gum or cheek gets drained and treated before you leave. If the tooth is worth keeping, an emergency root canal keeps it; if it isn't, an emergency tooth extraction ends the pain. Chip a tooth at Central Park and the broken or chipped tooth is rebuilt with bonding, a filling or a crown. And if a crown pops off during dinner, the lost filling or crown page tells you how to protect the tooth until you arrive.
You'll find South Salt Lake and seven other neighborhoods on our service area page. Sugar House and Millcreek, just to the east, have pages too.
